Ginny Gardea

Hello! My name is Ginny Gardea. I am a National level NPC Figure Athlete. In 2007 I entered my first competition as a goal to get back in shape after having my son. Just four months after he was born I hit the stage and never looked back.

Family is the most important priority in my life. My son is my most precious treasure and I’m honored to be his mommy. I think it’s so important to continue to make room for yourself while juggling work, raising a toddler, and caring for your family. Competing is something just for me and gives me a tremendous amount of satisfaction, but I’m never alone on stage because all of my accomplishments are shared with my husband and son who sacrifice so much to help me meet my goals.

I work hard to make my hectic training schedule as seamless as possible for my family. I rise before the sun at 3:45 to train and incorporate my son whenever possible into my routine, whether it’s in the jogging stroller or bringing him to the gym with me. I hope one day he looks at my competition pictures and is inspired to reach for the things that seem impossible and is proud of his mommy.

I recently won my class at the 2009 NPC Emerald Cup and am putting together a last minute trip to the Jr. USA’s in Charleston in just a few weeks. My participation in this event is contingent upon a little fundraising, so every penny counts. Airfare from Portland to Charleston on a holiday weekend with only a few weeks advance purchase is no joke. This prize would be extremely helpful in getting me to Charleston!
