
My fitness journey began when my daughter was 4yrs old. I found myself weighing about 180lbs at 5’ and had to do something. I felt it was very important to balance fitness with parenting so for several years I would go to the gym at night after my daughter had gone to bed then I bought equipment and trained early in the morning before she got up. I also did not want her to develop a bad body image so I have never imposed any of my eating or training on her or vilified any food. I wanted her to see you can do both so during my first season of competing I went with her class for a 4day trip to the mountains. I brought a cooler with all my food already cooked and divided up into meals and stuck to my prep plan even without a way to warm the food. She is now 18 and graduation from High School in June. I am pretty sure I will be the only muscular, shredded parent there and with baggies of chicken, veggies and rice as I will be 2 weeks out from Jr Nationals.
