After talking to my dad, I have decided to focus on my clinicals this fall and wait until next year to compete again. I am kinda disappointed that I can't excel at both but apparently I need to take time to focus on competing so that I can do well. Thats hard to wrap my brain around because I have always been the person taking on a million projects at once. But I would be more satisfied with my finish if I knew I had done everything I could to put forth my best. So with that said, I am about to start on the most active off season I have ever had. I usually dink around in the off season with no real direction. Just working out 3-4 days/week doing whatever I want to in the gym. This year I am going to have a plan and have some mini goals to reach. I know I am going to run a couple 5Ks and hopefully 1 or 2 mud runs. I may try to get in a crossfit competition next spring if my shoulder cooperates. Another goal will be to perfect one new fitness move per month. I want my routine to be jam packed with "how did she do that" moves when I step onstage next year.

I came up with a macro cycle of training to take me through next april when i would like to start working with a coach for specific contest prep. Hopefully, my body will make some noticeable changes over the next 12 months as I prepare for North Americans or TeamU 2012.

For this first cycle I will be focused on correcting some muscle imbalances I have noticed. I am going to see a physical therapist to get tested for any other imbalances I may not be aware of as well. Outside of that I am doing a lot of flexibility work and long distance (which to me is anything over 1.5miles) running outside. I will be doing this through September. Only lifting 2-3 days/week outside of my physical therapy. I want to be completely injury free before I start my strength cycle in October!!
I will do my best to keep up with this blog on my journey but be sure to check out my facebook athlete page for day to day updates http://www.facebook.com/pages/CiCi-Kyle-Fitness-athlete/10375226972...
